“Male fantasies, male fantasies, is everything run by male fantasies? Up on a pedestal or down on your knees, it's all a male fantasy: that you're strong enough to take what they dish out, or else too weak to do anything about it. Even pretending you aren't catering to male fantasies is a male fantasy: pretending you're unseen, pretending you have a life of your own, that you can wash your feet and comb your hair unconscious of the ever-present watcher peering through the keyhole, peering through the keyhole in your own head, if nowhere else. You are a woman with a man inside watching a woman.

You are your own voyeur.”

This costume was completely crocheted by my hands over the course of many hours. Due to how the unique way that the yarn runs through human hands it is impossible for machines to replicate. While mediums such as knitting, weaving and sewing are able to be machine made as they work on a single plane.

I wore this costume to Selby Gardens while my friend and artist, Christina Antoniou, took photos. Many guests were curious about what was going on and the purpose of my behavior. As someone who is incredibly socially anxious, I was surprised how my peculiar costume made it easier to communicate with strangers.

When an opportunity presents itself to extend my concepts into a new sphere of medium or method I am compelled to take action. These photographs were take in the Conservatory of Selby Gardens during the Yayoi Kusama: A Letter to Georgia O'Keeffe exhibit. Neither me nor Christina knew what the exhibit was going to look like, so working with the beautiful and unique installation was a creative challenge.
